Meet Our Founder
Hi, I’m Shelbey Arevalo, the proud founder of the Patient Advocate Program and a lifelong advocate for more accessible health care specializing in the dental industry. My love for dentistry started early—back in high school, in 2010 I earned my Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification and knew I had found my calling. From those early days chairside with doctors to starting my own dental billing and consulting company, I’ve been dedicated to making oral health care and its systems better for everyone.
But my journey hasn’t been all straight paths. In 2015, I took a detour to explore another field. I earned my Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT1) license and worked as a lab manager for a stem cell research company. While I learned a lot during that time, I realized it wasn’t my passion. I returned to dentistry—and it was the best decision I ever made. This experience planted the first seeds of the Patient Advocate Program, where I saw how much patients needed someone to help them navigate complex healthcare systems.
In 2019, I launched Arevalo Elite Services, helping dental practices nationwide streamline operations and thrive by specializing in dental billing. Over the years, I’ve expanded my expertise, and I’m honored to have my work recognized on a global scale. I was featured on the cover of Dente Magazine, a collaboration of dental professionals worldwide, and I’ve been spotlighted in a press release on Health News Today.
What truly drives me is my personal experience as a caregiver. In 2018, I became the primary caregiver and power of attorney for my father, who has been wheelchair-bound since a stroke in 2008. Navigating the healthcare system for him was eye-opening—it showed me just how much support patients need but often don’t get. That realization is the heart of the Patient Advocate Program.
Our mission is simple: make dental care easy, accessible, and stress-free for everyone, especially seniors and individuals with disabilities. From teledentistry consultations to mobile care services, we’re building a program that patients can trust to handle their oral health needs with compassion and expertise.
I’m proud to be a lifelong learner and a member of organizations like Greater National Advocates, AADOM, and Dental Entrepreneurial Women (DeW). I’m also working toward becoming a Board-Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA) to continue bringing patients the best care possible. Most recently in 2022 through Allied Health Careers I received my Medical Billing and Coding Collections and Qualified Medical Dental Sleep Apnea Credential (QMDSA). I am also proud to be an active billing specialist on FindATopDoc.com, a trusted platform dedicated to connecting patients with top-rated healthcare professionals.
Whether it’s through advocacy, education, or consulting, I wake up every day excited to make a difference. Let’s work together to simplify dental care and create healthier smiles—for life!
It is my pleasure to serve you, talk to you soon! - Shelbey Arevalo, Patient Advocate Advisor
What is a Patient Advocate, and What is Our Role in Your Oral Health Journey?
A patient advocate is someone who stands by your side, helping you navigate the often-confusing world of healthcare. Think of us as your go-to guide, support system, and problem solver. At the Patient Advocate Program, we’re here to make your oral health journey smoother, less stressful, and more empowering.
From understanding your treatment plans and insurance benefits to finding the right dentist/specialist or exploring options for mobile or teledentistry care, our role is to ensure you have the information and support you need to make confident decisions about your dental health.
For me, being a patient advocate is personal. I’ve seen firsthand how overwhelming the system can be—patients left in the dark, unsure of their next steps, or forced to rely on strangers who may not understand their needs. That’s why I’m so passionate about what we do. We bridge the gap between patients and providers, ensuring your voice is heard and your concerns are addressed.
Our mission is to make dental care accessible and stress-free for everyone, especially those who feel overlooked—like seniors, individuals with disabilities, or anyone just unsure where to start. We don’t just answer your questions; we take the time to truly understand your needs and work to create a care plan that fits your life.
Your oral health journey is important, and you don’t have to navigate it alone. Whether it’s explaining an insurance claim, scheduling with a trusted provider, or simply offering reassurance, the Patient Advocate Program is here to be your lifelong partner in dental care. Together, we can take the confusion out of oral health and put the focus back on what matters—your smile.
