What is the Patient Advocate Program?

The Patient Advocate Program is a nonprofit organization with a mission to bridge the gap between patients and dental providers. We work with patients of all ages, but our services focus primarily on those who need extra support, including seniors, people with disabilities, children, and those seeking specialized care like sleep dentistry. The Patient Advocate Program provides a comprehensive range of services to help patients feel confident about their care, from booking appointments to reviewing treatment plans and deciphering insurance coverage. In the future, our goal is to offer telehealth consultations and mobile dental treatment services, making it even easier to access quality care.

Why We Created This Program

The Patient Advocate Program was born from a personal journey of advocacy and care. Our founder, Shelbey Arevalo, with over 14 years of experience on the “front lines” in the dental industry, became the power of attorney of her father, who is permanently disabled. This experience brought to light the challenges of navigating the healthcare system and instilled a deep commitment to helping others through the same struggles. Shelbey saw the need for a program that empowers patients to take control of their oral health, provides guidance and resources, and connects them to caring providers.

We created this program because we believe everyone should have a positive and supportive experience when it comes to oral healthcare. We’re here to make that happen by supporting each patient as they find, understand, and receive the care they deserve.
